A workshop on ‘X-ray tomography applied to tsunami deposits’

Program schedule

Day 1 September 12, 2022 AM:  Short visit of the laboratory - Presentation of the tomography platform.

Day 1 PM:  Principles of X-ray tomography - A review of its application to geosciences - Specific application to tsunami deposits.

Day 2 September 13, 2022:  Preparing a sample for tomography - Defining the objectives of the analysis - Defining the parameters of the scan - Start a preliminary low-resolution scan.

Day 3 September 14, 2022:  Debriefing of the results of day 1 - An introduction to basic image analysis (theory + practice) - Defining a region of interest and start a high-resolution scan.

Day 4 September 15, 2022:  Debriefing of the results of day 2 - Improved Image analysis, including machine learning (theory + practice) - Final discussion
